Hey, Hello, Welcome!
My name's Meredith and I write adult Regency romance with a splash of humor and a good dollop of heat. I'm represented by Alex Land at Mad Woman Literary Agency and my debut novel, A ROGUE'S GUIDE TO WINNING A WIFE, is coming in 2027 from Bantam Dell!

![2024 was a great year.
[At least on the writing front 😅 We don't need to get into the rest for this post.]
~ HIGHLIGHTS ONLY ~
January: I started querying!! I absolutely had anxiety surrounding this, but most of all I was so proud of myself.
February: Started brainstorming a new project.
March: Outlined said new project.
April: Drafted my current WIP. [Guys, I just watched my vlog where I reread the first draft and past-me thought the ending was solid LMAO]
May: Dove in to the dreaded draft two.
June: Embarked on an overnight roadtrip to Austin to see my new obsession, "In the Mood for Love," in a theater.
July: Read "Business Casual" (by B.K. Borison) and promptly lost my mind.
August: Got my first full request from the query trenches!
September: Launched a Patreon page! Hit 3k subscribers on YouTube!
October: Selected as a SmoochPit mentee?!
November: Got a book deal offer?
December: Got a second full request! Ended with a pass, but I got some personalized feedback, which is a win in my book. I'm currently working hard on finishing up the latest round of revisions on my WIP.
I'm wrapping up this year feeling incredibly grateful for all the new experiences, all the form rejections, all the moments my stomach dropped, and all the new writer friends I've made along the way. Thanks for being here and being part of my journey.

![Nobody say anything. Just...don't even think it.
I was under 90K FOR SO LONG. And then I vowed to stay under 95K, so I guess that's a win (barely). But in any case, I did manage to finish draft 4 on Friday in time to send it off to my mentor and am now enjoying a bit of a break before I get her revision suggestions back in a couple weeks.
I spent the weekend refilling the creative well, finishing the latest Zelda game (finally), and generally doing whatever I wanted. So that's been nice. Except for the fact that I'm *so* bored without a writing project to work on 😂
[I did think of an opening line for another project I have in mind, but don't worry about that.]
Do your drafts balloon out of hand in terms of word count? Or are they always perfectly within the industry standards for your genre?

![Happy October 🍂
It's still over 90F (32C) here in Texas, but I'm sure we'll get classic fall temperatures soon enough...right?
September was a whirlwind and I got plenty accomplished, but there's still so much I want to do before the year is out! I'm aiming to finish revisions of draft 3 this week and the biggest surprise of all may be the fact that I'm fairly certain the draft will end UNDER 90K. IN WHAT UNIVERSE. I'm so happy with this word count.
Once this draft is done, I'll either be embarking on a mentorship (fingers and toes crossed) or I'll be looking for alpha readers. Maybe?? Let me know if you're interested in perusing a WIP featuring an arranged marriage between a bluestocking and a rake.
[Yes, I realize that last sentence may make NO SENSE to non-histrom readers LOL]
What are you working on this October? Are you making a big push to try to check goals off your list before the end of the year or are you winding down and ready for a bit of a break?

![Happy March! 🌻
It's been a minute and a half since I posted anything, so I figured a new month was a good time for a bit of a catch up.
So far this year I have...
•brainstormed a new WIP
•created main characters
•created side characters (for whom I absolutely do not have separate story ideas...)
•almost finished a super detailed outline
•almost finished a 6 week workshop
•read some really great books
•read some not so great books
I'm pleased with my progress so far! My outline goes off to an editor for an outline critique on the 11th (!!), so I've got a deadline that I do not intend to miss. The master plan is to start drafting in April and I cannot waaaaait to see these characters on the page and interacting with each other.
I hope the first two months of the year have been good to you 😊 Let me know how those writing projects are coming along!
[And if you ever want more info on what all I've been up to in recent weeks, I post vlogs every Friday with lots of #writingprocess details! Link in bio.]

![Working on outlining my 2024 goals today...
I like goal setting at the beginning of the new year (or toward the end of the old year, ha). There are plenty of methods out there for setting goals, but the last couple years, I've outlined my goals using these questions:
1. What do I want to accomplish?
[Think: what is your end goal?]
2. What do I need to accomplish these goals?
[Think: resources, materials, time required.]
3. Where/how will I get what I need?
[Think: strategy and/or specific steps to take.]
Hope that helps! Setting goals can be important, but equally important is figuring out how you're going to achieve them.
I hope this final week of 2023 is relaxing and fulfilling for you and you can enter 2024 with a boost of energy and excitement!
